Implant Dentures – Brecksville, OH
Restore Your Smile to the Fullest
Millions of people are missing teeth in the United States alone, but did you know that roughly 40 million are missing all of their teeth? Modern dentures may be better than ever, but they certainly aren’t without certain faults. For one, they tend to slip and shift out of place the older they get and they can’t really be used to easily break down all foods. When you aren’t satisfied with your denture (or don’t want one to begin with) there’s implant dentures in Brecksville. With them, you can expect optimal comfort, functionality, and longevity. And, with the help of Dr. Saleh and his team, you can get the entire process done under one roof at Brecksville Dental Excellence!
What Are Implant Dentures?
Implant dentures are essentially complex tooth replacements designed to attach to dental implants that have been surgically placed inside of the jaw. Dental implants come with titanium posts which integrate directly with the bone tissue, providing a far more stable foundation for a full or partial denture. As a result, your denture feels more comfortable, especially compared to simply resting on your gums. Depending on your needs, there are two types of implant dentures to choose from. These include the following:
Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures
Fixed implant dentures are designed to stay firmly in place after they are attached. Only a dentist should remove them. They usually need four to six dental implants, which means they do require more jawbone density on average to place. Once your denture is attached, you’ll likely forget that you even have dental implants!
Removable Implant Dentures
Also referred to as snap-on dentures, removable implant dentures use clips or ball sockets to remain secure but can still be easily removed for cleaning at home. While this option does involve more maintenance than a fixed solution, they can also be ideal for those with less bone tissue as they often need just two to five implants to remain secure.
The Implant Denture Procedure
Our office keeps the entire dental implant procedure in-house, making your treatment all the more convenient. Whether you’re receiving a single implant or a series of them for a denture, you can expect the same four phases of care: consultation, surgery, osseointegration/abutment, and placement of restoration. During your consultation, we’ll explain exactly how many implants will be needed and if preparatory services are necessary to perform surgery. After the implants are attached by Dr. Saleh, they’ll be given time to heal over the next several months. You’ll come back to have the abutment attached to the implants, then your denture a few weeks later.
Benefits of Combining Dentures & Dental Implants
There are many benefits to consider when choosing dental implants to hold dentures, including the following:
- Stronger biting force to eat your favorite foods
- No slipping or shifting denture while eating or talking
- Retained bone tissue, which helps the jaw maintain its natural shape
- Improved blood flow, which reduces sagging and hollowing of the cheeks
- True longevity compared to dentures (averaging about 30 years and longer of use)
- A natural-looking smile you’ll love to show off
