When was the last time you saw your dentist for a regular cleaning and checkup? It is recommended that most people head to the dental office every six months. However, it can be difficult to keep up with regular appointments when you have a such a busy schedule. It is easy to forget or something else can come up. This issue is when you are missing your dental visits, you could end up with some oral health issues in the future. Read on to learn some tips from your dentist so you can keep up with your dental checkups going forward.

Book Early

You know that is can be easy to put off making a dental appointment. You said that you would do it tomorrow and suddenly two weeks pass, and you still don’t have a dental visit scheduled on your calendar. The best way to keep this from occurring is by scheduling your next appointment while you are still in the dental office. You don’t have a reason to wait. You can always move it around later, but at least you have it on your calendar.

Visit the Same Time Every Year

Certain times of the year tend to be busier than others. If taking your children to and from school has shown to make attending your own appointments more difficult, it could be best for you to make your appointments for the summer and winter breaks when there is less stress. Your dentist understands that you have a busy life and will be as flexible as possible to accommodate to your needs.

Put It in Your Calendar

If you don’t write down the time of your appointment, you could easily forget about it and end up missing it. As soon as you schedule your visit, write it down right away. If you have a physical calendar, write it in big red letters and circle it. If you prefer using your phone, be sure to turn on your notifications so you don’t miss it. You could also ask the dental staff if they are able to send you email and text reminders. By being reminded a few weeks ahead of time, you will be able to plan ahead.

Don’t let your busy schedule get in the way of your oral health. By planning ahead accordingly, you can make sure you stay on track.
