- Precise Diagnoses with Intraoral Cameras
- Comfortable Digital Impressions
Intraoral cameras are small, handheld devices with cameras attached to their heads that we can easily maneuver into crevices and hard-to-reach areas of your mouth. They’re connected to a chairside monitor that magnifies the real-time footage and also allows us to capture pictures of troublesome oral symptoms so we can inspect them more closely. The images and video allow us to better explain what the issue is and how our recommended treatment will help address it.
In the past, film X-rays were used to view the roots of your teeth and the area of your mouth that lies below your gumline. There were several downsides to this method of X-ray imaging, including slow development of the images and blurry pictures that could lead to inaccurate diagnoses. Today, we utilize all-digital X-ray imaging which reduces radiation exposure by up to 90 percent. The digital file formatting also allows us to easily store and transfer your X-rays in case you need to visit a specialist.
3D Cone Beam Imaging
In addition to regular digital X-ray imaging, we also have a cone beam 3D scanner that captures a detailed blueprint of your mouth and facial structure. Instead of simply capturing the interior structures of your teeth and gums, this imaging device allows us to see nerves, both of your jawbones, your sinuses, and dentition. We typically use this device to plan dental implant placement and other more complex procedures.
Digital Impression System
If you’ve ever needed a dental crown, bridge, denture, or mouthguard, you’ve likely had to get a putty impression taken of your mouth. These can be uncomfortable and even cause you to gag, making the process unpleasant. At Brecksville Dental Excellence, we use our advanced digital impression system to capture accurate, detailed blueprints of your mouth to send off to our dental laboratory to craft your restoration or mouthguard.
Soft Tissue Laser
Our soft tissue laser is a high-tech device that allows us to remove severely damaged gum tissue or reshape the gumline without using a scalpel or sutures. It produces a concentrated beam of light that gently removes excess or unhealthy oral tissue to improve your oral health. It cauterizes the area on-contact as well, minimizing bleeding, reducing recovery time, and drastically reducing your risk of infection.
Cavity Detection System
Some cavities are hard to spot, even to a trained eye, like ones that are located between teeth or in their early stages of development. Our advanced cavity detection system shines a fluorescent light into your mouth that notifies us of any decay. That way, we’re able to quickly diagnose and treat it before it causes any additional harm to your mouth. It also makes each of your semi-annual checkups more thorough than ever.
